Dengue is one of the very common mosquito borne viral infections that resulting in

Why platelet count is reduced in dengue?
When an infected mosquito bites a human, the dengue virus enters to the
bloodstream of our body, it binds to platelets and start replication leading to multiplication of infectious
virus.
The infected platelet cells tend to destroy normal platelets which is one of the major causes for the drop in
the
platelet count in dengue fever.
Also, bone marrow suppression by dengue results in reduced platelet counts because bone marrow is the center for
the
production of all blood cells including platelets too.
Our blood contains a number of different cells that have various purposes in body.
The cells include red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. Platelets are cells that are responsible for
helping the blood to clot in the event if we cut ourselves or have any bleeding anywhere else
